Guideline 6
Support efficient dismissal.

Provide users with the option to easily dismiss services, take breaks, restart, or reflect on conversations with chatbots, prioritizing their autonomy, mental well-being, and self-care.

This guideline emphasizes providing users with options to easily dismiss services, take breaks, restart, or reflect on conversations with chatbots, prioritizing their autonomy, mental well-being, and self-care.

Practical implementation involves incorporating features within the chatbot interface that empower users to take control of their interactions and prioritize their well-being. This may include clear and easily accessible options to pause or end conversations, as well as prompts encouraging users to take breaks or reflect on their experiences.

The chatbot should also offer resources and support for self-care, such as mindfulness exercises, relaxation techniques, or suggestions for offline activities. These resources should be readily available to users whenever they feel the need to take a step back and focus on their mental health.

By prioritizing user autonomy and self-care, the chatbot promotes a positive and supportive user experience, empowering users to engage with the chatbot in a way that best serves their needs and preferences. This approach fosters trust and rapport between users and the chatbot, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of the support provided.
